LEWISBURG -- He is a part of the history of Bucknell University basketball and Joe Diblin will be honored during Saturday's Patriot League men's game versus the Naval Academy at Sojka Pavilion.

On the 75th anniversary of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the 95-year-old Diblin, of Northumberland, is the oldest living member of the Bison basketball team of 75 years ago.

Diblin, who writes a weekly aviation column for The Daily Item, was a World War II flight instructor.

MORE HONORS: Bucknell seniors Bryson Johnson and Mike Muscala grabbed two of the five spots on the Capital One Academic All-District 2 Men's Basketball Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. Johnson and Muscala both garnered their second career all-district citations, and both are now eligible for the national Academic All-America ballot.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, be a starter or key reserve and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.30 or better.

Johnson is a member of the team for the second year in a row. An economics major with a 3.40 GPA, Johnson is a starting guard on a Bison squad that is currently 18-4 overall and tied for the Patriot League lead with a 5-1 conference record. He is averaging 11.0 points per game on the season and has hit a team-high 44 3-pointers.

With 294 career 3-pointers, Johnson has tied Kevin Bettencourt for the program record, and he is just eight treys away from the Patriot League's all-time record. Johnson has scored 1,249 career points, good for 14th on Bucknell's all-time list.

Muscala, a management major with a 3.36 GPA, made the team as a sophomore in 2010-11 when he was also the Patriot League Player of the Year. Muscala joined Johnson on the Academic All-Patriot League Team last season, and this year he is one of 30 candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, which honors student-athletes for their success on the court, in the classroom and for their character and service in the community.
