Muscala is in the midst of a sensational senior year, and he is stamping his name as one of the top players in Bucknell and Patriot League history. The 6-foot-11 senior leads the league in scoring (19.4), rebounding (11.1) and blocked shots (2.9), and he also leads the team in assists with 61. He is one of only three players in the nation leading his team in all four of those categories, and he is the only Division I player in the country averaging at least 18 points and 11 rebounds per game.
Muscala also leads the country in double-doubles with 15, and his Academic All-District honor comes less than 24 hours after hitting the game-winning shot with 0.8 seconds left in a 56-55 road win over American on Wednesday night.
Bison hockey players earn honor: Bucknell field hockey placed 10 student-athletes on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, the league announced Thursday.
Leading the Bison were Tayler Siegrist, the 2012 Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Abby Watson), who posted a perfect grade-point average of 4.0 in the fall semester.
With 10 selections, Bucknell was tied for fourth in the Patriot League in terms of total honorees.
Siegrist became the second Bison in three years to be named the Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year in November. The senior earned the latest honor with a 3.78 GPA in the fall as an accounting major. Watson posted the team's highest average with a perfect 4.0 as a civil engineering major. Additionally, all five of Bucknell's All-Patriot League selections were named to the honor roll. Joining Siegrist with that distinction was fellow first-team selection Kelsey Mucelli, second-teamers Rachel Misko, Erica Perrine and Vickie Resh.
