There pretty much isn't a whole lot that Halifax senior Kaleb Reitz cannot do on a baseball field, that's why the Wildcats' star pitcher/infielder was named the Most Valuable Player as the Tri-Valley League's coaches selected their 2013 All-Star Team.

First, Reitz led the TVL in runs scored (25) and total bases (36). He was also second in the league with a .535 batting average, hits (23), RBIs (21), on-base percentage (.636) and slugging percentage (.837).

Reitz's extra-base hits amounted to three doubles, two triples and two home runs.

As a pitcher, Reitz finished tied for second in the TVL with five wins and he had 35 strikeouts in 35 innings of for a 1.80 ERA. The strikeouts and ERA were good for fifth- and seventh-best in the league, respectively.

Joining Reitz on the first team were East Juniata junior Nick Lorenz and senior Ryan Stuck, Upper Dauphin junior shortstop/pitcher Mac Ney and senior first baseman/pitcher Kane Bouchard, plus Line Mountain junior third baseman/pitcher Cory Warford.

As a hitter Lorenz led the TVL with 26 RBIs, and as a pitcher had a league-best 55 strikeouts (in 32 innings pitched) and an eighth-best ERA of 2.19. Stuck was third in the league with 19 RBIs, plus he was tied for second with five wins on the mound for the Tigers.

For the Trojans, Ney was first in the league with a 0.42 ERA and he was ranked in the top 10 with 23 runs scored (4th) and 20 hits (9th). Bouchard was first in WHIP (.797) and seventh with 32 strikeouts.

Warford finished tied for eighth in the league with 20 hits, fifth with a WHIP of 1.152 and a 10th-best ERA of 2.33.

Rounding out the TVL first team were Halifax's Trey Pritchard, Lancaster Country Day's Sy Williams and Newport's Cole Bower.

Halifax's Rick Ansel took the TVL's Coach of the Year honor. Ansel led the Wildcats to a 14-2 record and the league title after the squad went 8-4 in the league a year ago.
