Walt Disney World certainly was the happiest place on Earth for a local club soccer team.
North Union United Lady Dynamo, based in Lewisburg, won the U17/18/Adult title Aug. 4 at the 3v3 Challenge Sports National Championship at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort, Fla.
The five-girl team included recent Danville High graduate Siobhan Bross and Meadowbrook Christian rising senior Madison Burrows.
The Dynamo, coached by Jason Duke, went 2-2 in pool play, amassing enough points to advance to the semifinals. They downed the Orlando-based Pistol Annies, 6-4, to earn a place in the final against five-time defending champion Merkers, from Valdosta, Ga., which earned a playoff bye with the best result of pool play.
In the title match, the Dynamo posted a jaw-dropping 9-2 win, the largest margin of victory in the bracket's 18 games.
