H.S. roundup: Severn's third goal helps Northumberland Christian girls win in final seconds

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Bethany Severn waited until the last possible minute to bring her team all the way back from a halftime deficit.

Severn scored with five seconds left to stun Great Commission and give Northumberland Christian a 3-2 victory in a game in which her team trailed 2-0 at halftime. The thrilling finish capped a hat trick for Severn, who provided the scoring offense for Northumberland Christian in the victory.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Sunbury Christian scored early and often en route to a lopsided victory over Muhlenburg Christian.

The Eagles (1-1) benefitted from an early own goal and did not look back.

Sarah Spangler and Cierra Gross each scored twice for Sunbury Christian.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- A hat trick from Zach Newbury propelled Northumberland Christian to a home win over Great Commission.

The senior netted two goals in the first before wasting little time finishing the hat trick with a goal with 30 minutes left in regulation. Daniel Fevern scored two second-half goals as Northumberland Christian (2-0) scored three times in less than six minutes. David Mahoney added an unassisted goal for Northumberland Christian.

NORTHUMBERLAND -- Tanner Gutelius scored a pair of unassisted goals for Sunbury Christian in a 3-0 win over Muhlenberg Christian.

The Eagles (2-0) scored all three goals in the first half to take the win.

LEWISBURG -- Lewisburg swept the Braves on the strength of straight-sets wins in each of the three singles matches and at first doubles.

Hannah Gotoff and Shannon Loftus for the Green Dragons (1-4) outlasted Johnua Strouse and Adrianna Simon, 6-1, 4-6, 10-6.


MILTON -- Jacob Lenhart's 83 and Jared Bender's 86 helped Warrior Run beat Bloomsburg, St. John Neumann and South Williamsport in a golf match at Wynding Brook.
