Motorsports notebook: 62nd Labor Day Classic at Port Royal


The Williams Grove Saturday Night Series street stocks have been added to the Friday program in place of the sidewinder sprints. The street stocks will compete under Williams Grove rules in a non-point event.

On Sunday, September 1, the track will honor that late Billy Kimmel with a regular program of 410 and 358 sprint cars.

Fred Rahmer continues to lead the 2013 410 sprint car points over defending titlist Greg Hodnett. Kevin Nouse is the current Tool Shed of America 358 sprint car points.

n EXTRA, EXTRA: This Saturday's Three State Flyers Series Butch Renninger Memorial for super late models at Port Royal Speedway pays $3,333 to win the 33-lap feature. Group time trials will set the late model starting grids. Mark Pettyjohn, Jason Covert and Kenny Pettyjohn currently hold the top spots in 2013 Three State Flyers Series points.

Greg Satterlee is the defending event champion. Both the pro stocks and enduros will compete for increased purses as well.

n ONE MORE TIME: Fred Rahmer enters the final points race of the season at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday with a 265-point lead over Brian Montieth. Rahmer, who is retiring at the end of the year, scored his all-time leading 169th win last week at the track. He has three wins, 20 tops fives and 24 top-10s at the speedway this year.

n ONE LAST TIME: The season-ending points races at Clinton County Raceway tonight has a new start time of 7 with hot laps at 6:30. The six-division show includes the 305 sprint cars, the late models, IMCA modifieds, pro stocks, 270 micro sprints and the 4-cylinders.
