SELINSGROVE -- When it comes to the playoffs, Selinsgrove field hockey head coach Cathy Keiser likes to look at the records of the teams as having a clean slate and not what the teams did in the regular season.

The top-seed Seals outscored Danville 11-0 in the two regular season Heartland Athletic Conference Division I games.

Keiser also likes to see her team get off to a fast start.

The Seals did just that.

Junior Emily Klingler scored 53 second into the game, as Selinsgrove advanced to the semifinals of the District 4 Class AA playoffs with a 7-0 win over eighth-seeded Danville at Harold L. Bolig Memorial Stadium.

The top-seeded Seals (18-1) play on Monday night at 7 at Graham Field at Bucknell University against fifth-seeded Mifflinburg.

Selinsgrove won both games against the Wildcats in the regular season.

The Seals' defense didn't allow the Ironmen (8-9-2) to get past midfield until the game was six minutes in. And only twice in the first 10 minutes of the game did Danville cross the mid-field line.

Selinsgrove -- who had goals from five different players -- held the Ironmen without a shot on goal for the game.

"We have a great defense," Keiser said.

The Seals were up 3-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game as Klingler scored her second goal of the game on a pass from Horst six minutes in.

Horst then scored on a rebound off of Danville's goalie Kylie Edwards' pad two minutes later.

"Our goal was to come out and score early and keep focused on playing our game." Keiser said. "We can't get to over-confident and not play well, as you know what can happen to a team in the playoffs if they don't play well. We knew we had to finish strong."
