High school roundup: Montoursville edges Shikellamy in HAC-I baseball

BASEBALL
SUNBURY -- Zac Clark's two-run single up the middle in the seventh inning gave Montoursville a 2-1 victory over Shikellamy in a Heartland Athletic Conference Division I victory on Tuesday.
Montoursville (12-5, 9-5 HAC-I) began the seventh with one-out singles from Vince Molesky and Aaron Russell. A groundout to second by Brian Greer moved both runners up. Tyler Albert was then walked to load the bases before Clark's single brought the two runs home for the Warriors.
Molesky struck out 12, walked five and gave up three hits. Chuck Schlegel went the distance for Shikellamy (10-7, 8-5). He had 12 strikeouts and one walk.

Bloomsburg 6
BLOOMSBURG -- Key RBI singles from Patrick Swank, Evan Gora and Patrick Corrigan late in the game lifted the Green Dragons to the HAC-II win.
Kyle Ranck had the big blow for Lewisburg (6-12, 6-8 HAC-II) with a two-run home run in the first inning.

Warrior Run 2
TURBOTVILLE -- The Lancers got home runs from Collin Kelly and Brian Stopper to score three runs in the second and third innings in the HAC-II victory.
Kelly went 2-for-3 and hit a three-run homer in the second inning, while Stopper went 2-for-4 with a solo shot in the third. Todd Brouse hit a solo homer for Warrior Run (3-15, 1-14 HAC-II).
n Halifax 15,
East Juniata 5 (6 inn.)
HALIFAX -- Cody Henry, Drew Osenbach and Jason Palmer all went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead the Wildcats to the Tri-Valley League victory.
Bryce Houdeshell hit a three-run double for East Juniata. Halifax is 8-6, 7-5 TVL.
SOFTBALL
n Warrior Run 14,
Lewisburg 6
LEWISBURG -- Merisa Hendricks went 4-for-5 with two doubles and four RBIs to lead the Defenders to the HAC-II victory.
Emily Roat added two doubles and three RBIs as Warrior Run (7-8 overall) scored three runs in the sixth and seven more in the seventh to break a 4-all tie.
Jess Kline went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs to lead Lewisburg (3-14, 3-10 HAC-II).
n Mifflinburg 11,
Shamokin 0 (5 innings)
MIFFLINBURG -- With help from Amy Cline's grand slam, the Wildcats scored nine runs in the third and fourth innings to take the HAC-I win. Cline finished 4-for-4 with six RBIs, while Kelsey Benner went 3-for-3 with an RBI for Mifflinburg (11-5, 8-4 HAC-I).

Montoursville 2 (10 inn.)
MONTOURSVILLE -- Run-scoring doubles from McKensie Haines and Kyna Moyer, plus an RBI triple from Kami Heim, helped the Braves score three runs in the top of the 10th to take the HAC-I win.
Shikellamy improves to 5-13, 5-12 in the division.
n Central Columbia 13,
Mount Carmel 1 (6 inn.)
ALMEDIA -- Bridgette Clarke and Caitlin Swartz each hit two-run home runs to power the Blue Jays to the HAC-II division-clinching win.
Clarke finished 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, and Brianna Taylor went 2-for-2 with a double, triple and two runs to lead Central (15-1, 12-1 HAC-II).
BOYS TRACK
n Shikellamy 94,
Montoursville 56
MONTOURSVILLE -- Miles Wolfe was a three-event winner as Shikellamy took the Heartland Athletic Conference Division-I season-ending meet.
Wolfe won the 800, 1,600, and ran a leg to help the 1,600 relay win in 8:53.3 for Shikellamy (3-4, 1-4 HAC-I).
n Danville 93,
Southern Columbia 57
DANVILLE -- Tylor Barnhart and Mikeal Owens-Wright were both three-event winners as the Ironmen took the HAC ceossover win.
GIRLS TRACK
n Montoursville 87,
Shikellamy 63
MONTOURSVILLE -- The Braves dominated in the field events, but it wasn't enough as they fell in the HAC-I meet.
Brooke Sulouff won all three throwing events and Lisa Pabon won the long and triple jumps for Shikellamy.
n Danville 87,
Southern Columbia 63
DANVILLE -- Sam Zampetti won the 100, 200 and the 400 and 1,600 relays to lead the Ironmen to the HAC crossover win.
