BASEBALL
MIDDLEBURG -- James McCloskey and Jose Andino combined to score Midd-West's tying and game-winning runs, as the Mustangs took a 5-4 Tri-Valley League victory over Line Mountain Tuesday and qualified for the District 4 playoffs.
McCloskey had the RBI singles that plated Andino with the tying run in the fifth inning, and later the winning run in the seventh.
Andino finished 3-for-3 with three RBIs and McCloskey went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for Midd-West (10-7, 8-7 TVL).
Adam Menko went 4-for-4 to lead Line Mountain.
Upper Dauphin 11, East Juniata 0 (5 innings)
ELIZABETHVILLE -- The return of catcher Jeremy Weaver propelled the Trojans to the TVL victory.
Weaver, who came back after suffering an ankle injury, was able to catch the first four innings and relieve pitcher Zach Markel in the fifth and followed to strike out the side.
Weaver and Markel combined to retire nine batters in five innings for Upper Dauphin (10-6, 9-4 TVL).
Southern Columbia 8, Sullivan County 2
LAPORTE -- Tim Benner pitched a complete game for the Tigers en route to the Mid-Penn Conference win. Benner struck out 13 batters and walked two. He also hit an RBI single in the game for Southern (12-5 overall and MPC).
SOFTBALL
n Upper Dauphin 11, East Juniata 0
COCOLAMUS -- Brooke Snyder and Krysten Ligon each had three hits to lead the Trojans to the win and the Tri-Valley League championship.
Snyder went 3-for-5 and scored three runs. Ligon went 3-for-3, scored four times and she also struck out 11 and allowed just three hits to lead Upper Dauphin (15-2, 13-0 TVL).
Taty Chubb went 2-for-3 to lead East Juniata (6-8, 6-6).
Danville 8, Selinsgrove 0
DANVILLE -- Playing without three starters, the Ironmen got a two-hit shutout from Angie Lynn to claim the SVL victory, ending Danville's seven-game losing streak.
Freshman Josie Pervola went 3-for-4 for Danville (6-10, 6-8 SVL), while Rachel Leister, Carrie Mensch and Brianne Burkland all drove in two runs apiece for the Ironmen.
Selinsgrove's (3-12, 3-12) Kelsey Neff singled in the sixth to break up Lynn's no-hitter.
Shikellamy 4, Lewisburg 2 (9 innings)
LEWISBURG -- Katie Benner's two-run single in the ninth inning gave the Braves the SVL victory. Benner finished 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Shikellamy (9-8, 9-6 SVL). Lewisburg falls to 5-10, 4-10.
Montoursville 14, Line Mountain 1 (5 inn.)
MANDATA -- Chelsea Brelsford went 3-for-4, tripled twice, doubled and drove in two runs to lead the Warriors to the SVL win. The Eagles fall to 0-13 overall and in league play.
Juniata 14, Greenwood 0 (5 innings)
MILLERSTOWN -- Tricia Zimmerman went 4-for-4, tripled twice, drove in three runs and scored three more as the Indians ran away for the TVL win.
Juniata scored a combined 10 runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with Zimmerman hitting an RBI triple in both.
Greenwood is 6-11 overall and TVL.
Southern Columbia 6, Bloomsburg 2
CATAWISSA -- A three-run third inning keyed by Tiffany Danilowicz's two-run double led the Tigers to the Mid-Penn Conference win.
Mackenzie Silvers added an RBI double in the third that gave Southern (12-5 overall and MPC) a 5-1 lead.
GIRLS TRACK
Danville 104, Jersey Shore 46
DANVILLE -- Abbi Woll won three events and Caitlin Cavanaugh won two more to lead the Ironmen to a win in their SVC-I finale.
Woll won the 200, shot put and javelin for Danville (5-2 overall and SVC-I), while Cavanaugh took the 800 and the 1,600.
Williamsport 89, Mifflinburg 61
WILLIAMSPORT -- With three of their top runners out of the lineup, the Wildcats fell in the SVC-I meet. Katy Fogel was a three-event winner to lead Mifflinburg (2-6, 2-5 SVC-I).
Lewisburg 116, Southern Columbia 34
CATAWISSA -- The Green Dragons completed another unbeaten season, increasing their winning streak to 129, and won their eighth consecutive SVC-II title.
Lewisburg (9-0 overall, 7-0 SVC-II got two individual wins from Hannah Jones (100 and 300 hurdles).
Lewisburg's Kalyn Fisher won another 800-meter battle with Southern's Cynthia Adams as both runners broke the stadium record of 2:27 set in 1982 by Central Columbia's Lisa Neiderheiser. Fisher ran a 2:17.0 and Adams finished in 2:19.2.
Southern finished at 4-3 overall and SVC-II.
BOYS TRACK
Danville 75, Jersey Shore 75
DANVILLE -- The Bulldogs won the closing relay to earn the draw in the Susquehanna Valley Conference Division I finale.
Mikeal Owens-Wright, Richard Smith and Jon Mrockosky all won three events for Danville (5-1-1 overall and SVC-I).
n Williamsport 95, Mifflinburg 55
WILLIAMSPORT -- The Millionaires claimed 10 first-place finishes to take the SVC-I victory.
