BERWICK -- Selinsgrove pounded out 11 hits and its defense turned three double plays in a 9-0 Susquehanna Valley American Legion League romp over Berwick on Wednesday.
Selinsgrove (8-5, 6-3 SVL) scored six runs over the second and third innings to back the five-hit pitching of Nick Gaugler, who struck out two. Kevin Robinson completed the shutout with an inning of scoreless relief.
Brad Billings went 2-for-2 and scored three runs, while Justin Portzline was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Seals. Ben Miller and Zach Mills had RBI singles in Selinsgrove's four-run second inning, and Nate Rovenolt added a sacrifice fly.
Berwick falls to 4-5, 4-5.
Sunbury/Norry 11, Bloomsburg 4
BLOOMSBURG -- Zach Deibler's two-run, pinch-hit home run in the seventh inning capped Sunbury/Norry's Susquehanna Valley League victory.
Scott Deibler and Erik Tuomisto added three hits apiece for Sunbury/Norry (11-3, 6-2 SVL). Among Tuomisto's three hits were two doubles and he also drove in two runs with a single in the third. Bloomsburg falls to 7-7, 4-5.
Montoursville 7, Milton 5
MILTON -- A six-run fourth inning keyed by Ethan Carey's three-run home run propelled Montoursville to the West Branch League win.
Brad Balliet, Tony Fannick and Gerry Runyan paced Milton (9-6, 5-3 WBL) with two hits apiece.
Montoursville improves to 7-5, 5-3.
Hughesville 14, West Snyder 3
BEAVER SPRINGS -- With help from four errors, Hughesville scored nine runs in the seventh inning to take the lopsided West Branch League win.
Hughesville (7-7, 5-3 WBL) was paced by Bryce Pardoe and Sean Lorson, who went 3-for-5 and 2-for-3, respectively.
James Krouse went 2-for-3 and doubled, while Dexter Herman went 2-for-4 to lead West Snyder (2-5, 2-5).
