Area roundup: Tyler, Shikellamy hold on to beat Shamokin

COAL TOWNSHIP — With the game tied at 34 with under two minutes left to play, Ernie Tyler’s put-back gave Shikellamy a lead and the Braves held on for a 44-34 Heartland-I win over Shamokin on Tuesday.

Following Tyler’s put-back, Shamokin missed its following shot and guard Chris Zimmerman was hit with two technical fouls and ejected — enabling Shikellamy to finish out the game at the free throw line.

Jersey Shore 59, Selinsgrove 54

JERSEY SHORE — The Bulldogs made a total of 15 foul shots in the game, including nine in the fourth quarter to hold off the Seals for the HAC-I win.

Selinsgrove (3-6, 2-2 HAC-I) relinquished the lead in the second quarter, although the Seals managed to cut their deficit to just one a couple times but couldn’t retake the lead.

Dillon Hoke paced Selinsgrove with 20 points.

Lewisburg 55, Central Columbia 46

ALMEDIA — Travis Conrad scored a game-high 28 points to propel the Green Dragons to the HAC-II win. Mike Driscoll added 12 points for Lewisburg (9-0, 4-0 HAC-II), and the two players combined for six 3-pointers.

Danville 67, Mifflinburg 22

MIFFLINBURG — The Ironmen jumped out to a 45-14 halftime lead to rout the Wildcats in an HAC-I matchup.

Scotty Heeter and Zach Kozick both scored 15 points to lead Danville (7-2, 4-0 HAC-I), while Austin Renz and Bret Berg also scored in double figures.

Mifflinburg falls to 4-5, 0-4 in league play.

Loyalsock 77, Warrior Run 31

TURBOTVILLE — The Lancers put their game into cruise control in the second and third quarter as they outscored the Defenders 48-9 to take the HAC-II victory.

Roger Wilson led Loyalsock (8-1, 4-0 HAC-II) with 22 points.

Zack Miller had 10 points for Warrior Run (1-8, 0-4).

Meadowbbrook Chr. 48, Northumberland Chr. 26

MILTON — Out of the five players who scored in the game for the Lions, three of them were in double figures to lead the team to the ACAA win.

Tyler Baughman scored 14 points and Graham Feaster added 12 for Meadowbrook (4-5, 4-0 ACAA).

Damian Gittens led Northumberland Christian with 10 points.

New Covenant 67, Sunbury Christian 49

MANSFIELD — Karch Carey had a double-double and Ashton Bartlett almost finished with one, but it still wasn’t enough for Sunbury (5-7, 4-3 ACAA).


Lourdes Regional 56, Weatherly 27

COAL TOWNSHIP — A 20-point, six-steal day from Rachel Schultz helped the Red Raiders win.

Nikki Komara added 10 points, and she had five rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks for Lourdes (9-2 overall).

Sunbury Christian 65, New Covenant 16

MANSFIELD — Abby Daddario scored 24 points, including four 3-pointers, in Sunbury Christian’s ACAA rout. Daddario also had six rebounds and five steals for the Eagles (10-1, 6-0 ACAA). Torri Erdman and Faith Gingrich added 18 and 15 points, respectively, for Sunbury Christian.

Meadowbrook Chr. 37, Northumberland Chr. 33

MILTON — Meadowbrook Christian shook off a seven-point deficit after the first quarter to come back and defeat Northumberland in an ACAA matchup.

Madison Burrows led the way for Meadowbrook Christian by scoring 17 points, while Northumberland Christian was led by Alyssa Wesner’s 14.


Lewisburg 52, Selinsgrove 24

LEWISBURG — Beginning with Brandon Smith’s major decision win at 220 pounds, the Green Dragons would reel off five straight wins to open up a huge lead and take the HAC cross-over matchup.

Lewisburg (4-1) began the match with a pin from Nicholas Bernstein at 170, and after Dante Taylor’s pin at 120 the Green Dragons had a 34-12 lead.

Brian Friery (113), Logan Aikey (145), Steven Gingher (152) and Max Reed (160) added pins for Lewisburg.

Tom Kramer (132), Andrew Boob (182) and Vitaly Ivankin (195) all had pins for Selinsgrove (1-4).

Williamsport 54, Danville 21

DANVILLE — The Millionaires won eight of the first 10 bouts that were contested to take the HAC cross-over win. Jay Brennan (152), David Burke (160) and Gunner Feldman (195) all got pins for Danville (0-3).
