MIDDLEBURG — Luke Zimmerman gave Midd-West some late-game insurance as his two-run home run in the sixth inning helped the Mustangs beat Mount Carmel 4-0 in a Heartland Athletic Conference cross-over game on Monday.
Zimmerman went 3-for-3 in the game to lead Midd-West (3-4), which also got a complete-game, three-hit shutout from Colton Keister who had seven strikeouts and five walks.
Also for the Mustangs, Austin Hockenbrock hit a two-run double to give his team the early lead in the first inning, and Hunter Shuff added a 2-for-3 day for Midd-West.
Mifflinburg 10, Hughesville 0 (5 inn.)
MIFFLINBURG — A six-run first inning got the Wildcats off an rolling for the nonleague win.
Logan Cooper doubled and drove in three runs to lead Mifflinburg, while Austin Walter and Pat Crissman both drove in a pair of runs for the Wildcats.
Susquenita 7, Upper Dauphin 5
ELIZABETHVILLE — Upper Dauphin rallied to tie the score in the fifth and seventh innings, but Susquenita won the nonleague game with a two-run Andy Speck homer in the eighth.
“We had the table set in the seventh (with runners at the corners) and couldn’t cash in,” said Trojans coach Ryan Lentz. “We could have ended it.”
Upper Dauphin dropped to 4-3.
Southern Columbia 13, Shamokin 12 (8 innings)
CATAWISSA — Tyler Behrent hit a walk-off, two-run double in the eighth inning to give the Tigers the HAC cross-over win.
Behrent finished 2-for-3 and he drove in a total of five runs in the game, while Mason Peters went 4-for-5 with a double and two RBIs for Southern (5-1).
Shamokin falls to 4-2.
Lourdes Regional 12, Shenandoah Valley 0
SHENANDOAH — The Red Raiders took the Schuylkill League win behind a dominating performance from Charlee Rosini, who tossed five-inning, two-hit shutout while also getting two hits and driving in four runs for Lourdes.
