High school roundup: Auman, Carnathan pace Selinsgrove girls track

SELINSGROVE — Brianna Carnathan and Alexis Auman won three individual events apiece as Selinsgrove ran past Jersey Shore, 136-14, in a season-opening Heartland-I matchup Tuesday.

Carnathan won the 800 meters (2:42.29), 1,600 (5:38.00) and the 3,200 (12:40.35). Auman won the 400 (1:07.04), the long jump (16-3 1/2) and triple jump (32-11) for Selinsgrove.

Also for the Seals, Marissa Heddings won the 100 (13.76) and 100 hurdles (16.68), plus Courtney McCartney captured the shot put (41-7) and discus (106.5).


Selinsgrove 121, Jersey Shore 29

SELINSGROVE — Logan Harris was a three-event winner individually, while Mike Ede and Brody Beiler won two events apiece to help the Seals take the HAC-I win.

Harris won all three sprints — the 100 (11.84), 200 (24.16) and 400 (53.91). Ede won both hurdles races, and Beiler won both distance events for Selinsgrove.

Danville 77, Montoursville 73

MONTOURSVILLE — Tyler Vella was a three-event winner to lead the Ironmen to a season-opening victory.

Vella won the 800 (2:07.35), 1,600 (4:47.46) and he ran a leg on the victorious 3,200 relay team (8:49.0) for Danville.


Selinsgrove 4, Williamsport 1

WILLIAMSPORT — Beginning wtih a pair of straight-set wins from Rob Smith and Safwan Khan in the first two singles matches, the Seals remained undefeated on the season with the HAC-I victory over the Millionaires.

Both doubles teams also won in straight sets for Selinsgrove (3-0), while the Seals’ only loss came in three sets.

Bloomsburg 4, Mifflinburg 1

BLOOMSBURG — Matt Southerton won at No. 2 singles for the Wildcats to prevent the Panthers from getting a shutout. Southerton beat Tyler Weller, 6-2, 6-3 for Mifflinburg (0-3).


Lewisburg 12, Danville 7

DANVILLE — Nathan Fox and Matt Fedorjaka scored four goals apiece to lead the Green Dragons to the CSLL victory.

Fox added five assists, and Fedorjaka had two for Lewisburg (1-1).

Danville was led by a four-goal, one-assist day from Nick Treon.


Mifflinburg 16, Bellefonte 6

MIFFLINBURG — Tabb Koch’s three-goal day propelled the Wildcats to the victory. A total of 12 players had at least one point in the game for Mifflinburg (2-0).
