SELINSGROVE -- The first four-division racing show of the season featuring the 358 sprint cars, late models, pro stocks and roadrunners gets underway at 6 p.m. Saturday.
The speedway will continue with a start time of 6 p.m. through April 19. The track switches to a 7 p.m. start time on April 26 for the remainder of the season.
The late models, led by defending track champion Jeff Rine, of Danville, make their season debut on Saturday. Rine, who won eight features last year, is seeking his fourth career late model track championship.
Defending 358 sprint car champion Dave Calaman, of Carlisle, began defense of his title with a convincing win in last Saturday's 25-lap season-opening event.
In the pro stock division, A.J. Stroup, of Evandale, leads the point standings with two races already in the books. Stroup has one win and a 10th-place finish this season.
Former track champion Keith Bissinger, of Orangeville, a three-time winner in 2007, leads the roadrunner point standings following his win last weekend.
Selinsgrove Raceway Park will present its third show of the season featuring go-kart and micro sprint car racing tonight at 7 p.m.
SUPER SPORTSMAN: The Super Sportsman Tour will be in action tonight and Saturday as part of its 2008 tour. The sportsmen will race tonight at Williams Grove Speedway with the 410 sprint cars and join Lincoln Speedway's card of 410 sprint cars and 358 late models on Saturday night.
Paul Miller is the early-season points leader for the tour.
TITLE HUNT BEGINS: After 52 big block modifieds jammed the pits last Saturday night at Big Diamond Raceway, the speedway kicks off its 2008 points battle tonight with a regular three-division card of 358 modifieds, sportsman modifieds and roadrunners.
Duane Howard led wire-to-wire to win the 40-lap big block feature last Saturday.
POWDER PUFFS: Port Royal Speedway will have a powder puff race as part of its racing card Saturday night. Also on tap are the 410 sprints, late models and pro stocks. Last week, seven pro stocks showed up to race.
CROWDED HOUSE: Bug Day at the Greenwood Valley Action Track happened in the cold Saturday, but the pits were full as the annual event attracted a large crowd of cars, drivers and pit crew members. The event, held a week before the season opener, allows drivers, pit crews and the race track staff shake to shake off the winter dust.
With temperatures barely getting out of the 30s, most of the day was used by drivers to dial in the microsprint or kart to match the track conditions and to find that extra speed for next week's opening of points racing. The event brought a few cars out for side-by-side racing to test the cars even more completely.
