SELINSGROVE -- Blane Heimbach of Selinsgrove made his comeback from a late 2007 leg injury complete at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night by outrunning a fast-closing Pat Cannon for the 358 sprint feature victory.

Heimbach was headed for his third oval track title in a row at Selinsgrove last August when he broke his leg in a 410 sprint crash at Williams Grove Speedway, sidelining him from action.

But he was all about action Saturday as he stormed through the field from his fifth starting position to claim the $1,500 payday in only his second outing since returning to racing. He returned to the track last weekend after a seven-month hiatus.

With a youthful exuberance admittedly not displayed by himself for quite some time, Heimbach scampered from the cockpit and into victory lane.

"This feels better than anything I've ever felt. It just feels so good to be back in a race car. I guess I forgot how much I love racing. I don't know what to say. I missed it," Heimbach said.

"It felt like forever since I've been in one of these cars when I first got back in it. It just feels really good."

Heimbach continued, "Yeah, I guess it is like riding a bike. I'm loving it. I feel like racing so much more than I did before."

The eventual winner took the lead from Kyle Bachman, also of Selinsgrove, on the fifth lap to lead the remaining 20 loops for his 22nd career oval triumph. The victory was also the 200th of car owner Jeff Creasy's career, spanning open wheel racing for 25 years. Cannon, Etters, was second, followed by Davie Franek, Lafayette, N.J..; Joey Borich, Sunbury; and Dave Calaman, Carlisle.

Heats for the sprints went to Franek, Borich, Joel VanBuskirk and Bachman. Matt Heimbach took the consolation event. Completing a comeback of a different sort, Steve Campbell of Riverside marked his return to regular competition at Selinsgrove Speedway by winning the first feature of the season for late model stock cars.

A former oval regular, Campbell has returned to the track in 2008 after spending about a decade as a regular at Port Royal Speedway, where he won several track titles.

Campbell assumed command of the race on lap 17 when racelong leader Tony Adams of Sunbury withdrew from the event. Campbell then claimed his 41st career oval victory over Dustin Hoffman, Eric Hons, Luke Hoffner and Brett Schadel.

Hoffman and Hons won late model qualifiers.

Jace Cresswell of Lewisburg led the first 11 circuits of the 15-lap pro stock feature before yielding to fifth starter Chad Davis of Muir. Both were racing for their first career oval wins.

Cresswell had firm command of the field before riding the outside guardrail in the first corner on the seventh lap, allowing Davis to close in. A restart with six laps to go allowed Cresswell to gather himself back up, but Davis nosed ahead at the line to lead lap 12 before completing the pass moments later.

Cresswell held on for second, ahead of A.J. Hoffman, Jason Smith and A.J. Stroup.
