“Methinks that the moment my legs begin to move, my thoughts begin to flow.”
—Henry David Thoreau
The “Flashlight Safari” at Clyde Peeling’s Reptiland is an educational Halloween-type adventure that your family will love.
While having a ton of fun, everyone in the family will learn how nocturnal animals survive in darkness. Bring a flashlight for each person in your party so you can see more than 40 species of reptiles and amphibians.
Many of Reptiland’s animals become active only after dark and this is your chance to peek in on their lives.
Shows will be presented Friday and Saturday at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. In addition to modern-day animals you will also encounter over 10 dinosaurs including Brachiosaurus, Dilophosaurus spitter, Baryonyx, Stegosaurus and Tyrannosaurus Rex as you and your family stroll down the prehistoric path.
R.B. Winter happenings
There’s still time this morning to head up to the R.B. Winter State Park to for a guided-fall foliage scenic mountain bike ride that starts at 10 a.m.
You can join the other riders as the group enjoys the sights, sounds and smells of autumn. Pre-registration is required so please call the park at 966-1455 to enroll.
If possible, bring along your own bike. The park does have a few bikes available as loaners.
All riders must wear a helmet while participating and please pack a lunch to enjoy on the trail. Dress appropriately for today’s changeable weather.
On Friday, you and your family members can participate in the colonial craft of candle making at the park. If you’ve always wanted to try to make your own candles, but haven’t had a chance to actually dip a candle, this will be a great opportunity to learn.
Dress for outdoor conditions and in old clothes that can get wax on them.
Pre-registration is required, so call the park staff to enroll.
