Bob Garrett's Talking Points: Reptiland hosts unique safari

(Continued)

Head upstream

“Upstream: Images of Susquehanna Waterways” is the name of the outdoors-oriented art exhibit at Faustina’s Gallery in Lewisburg that opens Friday and runs through Nov. 17.

There will a reception and time to meet the artists Friday from 6-9 p.m.

Alice Kelsey and Jeanne McKinney are the artists for a show of 30 paintings created in oils and watercolors.

You will undoubtedly recognize many of the scenes in the paintings from our valley’s great waterways. A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Merrill Linn Land and Waterways Conservancy.

Conservation course

Speaking of the Merrill Linn Conservancy ...

I thought you might like to know about a course that a group of the good folks from the Conservancy are teaching as part of Bucknell’s Institute for Life-long Learning.

The course is titled: “How Green Is Our Valley? Conservation Issues In and Around the Susquehanna Valley” and it deals with topics as diverse as our natural history, putting conservation into practice and several field trips will be held throughout the course.

The six-week course is jam-packed with great presentations and hands-on learning. Unfortunately, the current class is full. Let’s hope that this success means that the course will be offered again.

To learn more about this institute please visit www.bucknell.edu/x50531.xml or the Linn Conservancy’s website at www.linnconservancy.org.
