‘Jam’ the place for bluegrass

One of the most enjoyable music venues around is the monthly Jerseytown Jam, which is coming up Sunday. For folks who dig bluegrass, old time, old time country and gospel music, this is the place to be on the third Sunday of the month. The jam takes place in the Jerseytown Community Center, which in earlier days was the village school, and folks come from all over the region to play. The doors open at 10 a.m., and the music starts at noon and runs until everyone’s tired or 6 p.m., whichever comes first. There’s a $5 donation to get in the door.

To get there from here, take Route 11 north to Danville, then turn left on Route 54. Bear right on Route 642 east to Jerseytown, then turn right on Route 254, and in less than a block, you’ll see the school on your left. From Lewisburg and Milton, take Route 254 (Broadway) straight to Jerseytown.

One showing only at 7 p.m. Call the theater at 524-9629 for tickets.

Also on Saturday night, Lewisburg’s Countryside Contra Dancers will hold their monthly dance at the Donald L. Heiter Community Center, 100 N. Fifth St., from 7:30-10:30.
