The Friends of Shikellamy State Park start off the summer season on Sunday with Sunday Brunch on the Point from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The brunch features food by Emma’s Food for Life, of Selinsgrove, and the delicious music of the Burgess-Mitchell-Seal Trio. You’re welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy the day, too. This is the first of several events sponsored by the Friends, including brunches the first Sunday of the month, concerts on the overlook, sunset drum circles and several special events.

Other events this week include the Ann Kerstetter Band at the Pine Barn Inn in Danville tonight from 7-10 p.m. Ann will be on the patio rain or shine, and reservation are recommended. Call 275-2071 to make them.

On Friday night, Barbara Schaffer, of Northumberland, will open a photography exhibit of Central Pennsylvania Musicians at Brews n Bytes on Lower Mulberry Street in Danville from 6-9:30 p.m. Barb and her husband Paul are the producers of the King Street Coffee House music series in Northumberland, and she’s taken some wonderful shots of performers on the stage at the Savoy. She’s also seeking donations for the 2009 Achilles Walk for Hope and Possibility in New York later this month. She plans to participate in the walk.

Also Friday night, Kimbo and Frank Wicher will be on the terrace at Front Street Station in Northumberland from 7-10 p.m. $1 cover charge. In Selinsgrove, Music Plus at 29 N. Market St. features four bands in a free show. JC and the Lumber Jacks, Matt Kunkel, Matt Otis and Useless Words will all take turns in the show that starts at 6 p.m. Also featured is photography by Izzy Wagner.

Lots of things going on Saturday. Lewisburg’s Country Side Contra Dancers are at the Mifflinburg VFW for a dance, as part of the Mifflinburg Buggy Museum’s re-enactment of the Battle of Chambers Ridge. The dance from 8-10 p.m. features live music by Henry Koretsky and Todd Clewell, with dances called by Bruce Young, and the best part is it’s free.

Music Plus in Selinsgrove has another show Saturday night, this time with Adam Lynched, Condition Oakland, Time Kaye and Brad Richmond. 6 p.m.

***

Greg Burgess and Beverley Conrad will be at Penn’s Tavern in Fisher’s Ferry south of Sunbury along Route 147 from 6-9 p.m. Great music and great atmosphere. Call 286-2007 for reservations.

The Sunday afternoon acoustic jam is this Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the Selins Grove Brewing Co. They moved it up a week due to the Billtown Blues Festival next weekend. Also on Sunday W-squared, which is Woody Wolfe, will make his debut at Skeeter’s Pit BBQ on the hill above Tedd’s Landing in Shamokin Dam from 5-8 p.m.
