SELINSGROVE — The debut event of this year’s Artist Series at Susquehanna University opens Sunday at 3 p.m. with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Glenn Miller, arguably music’s most iconic performer from the World War II generation, chose to create a definitive sound unlike any other in the big band era.
In 1938, his orchestra smashed attendance records, and 70 years later, the Glenn Miller Orchestra still plays to sold-out audiences around the world. Now led by trombonist Larry O’Brien, the orchestra recreates the music made famous in dance halls and through radio broadcasts.
The performance in Weber Chapel Auditorium costs $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $5 for students with ID. Tickets are available at the Susquehanna University box office, by calling 372-2787 or visiting susqu.edu/artists/tickets.
