BLOOMSBURG — Country musician and self-proclaimed “country girl” Miranda Lambert has a unique distinction at this year’s Bloomsburg Fair. Her grandstand performance on Sunday will be the only solo grandstand show by a female.

“If you want to leave your problems at the door, and come rock out for an hour, I’ve got the show for you,” Lambert said.

“I’ve always loved the rush of a live show. We keep it very high energy, and I love seeing my fans’ reactions to my songs. I work hard to write material that not only will be great for the record, but will translate well to my live show.”

The 23-year-old Texas native first hit the scene as a finalist in the 2003 season of the TV series “Nashville Star.”

Although she didn’t win, Lambert gained national attention and a strong fan following. Shortly afterward, she was offered a record deal and would go on to record “Kerosene,” which debuted at No. 1 on the country charts. This was only the sixth time a new artist entered in at the top of the charts.

It was not only Lambert’s vocal skills that brought her fame but also her talents as a songwriter .

“I am a country girl, and I write about life. I definitely don’t use my music as a platform for politics or anything like that. I like to write songs about experiences, things that happened to me or those around me,” she said. “Sometimes it’s a revenge song, sometimes it’s a rocker and sometimes it’s a ballad.”

Growing up, her musical interests and inspirations were varied, including musical legend Merle Haggard, Steve Earle, Jack Ingram and Allison Moorer.

Lambert has also toured with George Strait and Keith Urban.

Her second album, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” proved to the world she was not a one-hit wonder, but a genuine country music star.

“I’d have to say that each year of my career gets a little sweeter. I won ACM Female Vocalist in 2007, and then came back in 2008 and won Album of the Year. That was huge for me. Also, I’ve gotten to go out on the road with some of my heroes, like George Strait, Keith Urban and right now, I’m on tour with Kenny Chesney. I really want to keep up the momentum of my career thus far. It’s been a slow and steady build, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.”

Lambert will quickly reach a milestone in her young career when she releases her third album, “Revolution,” on Sept. 29.

“I’m beyond excited. This is my most diverse record yet, and I’m really proud of it,” she said. “At my upcoming show, I will be singing some of the hits from ‘Kerosene’ and ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,’ and I’ll even be playing some songs from ‘Revolution.’ I like to give fans a little sneak peak of the new material. Plus, we’ve been having fun this summer and mixing things up with some covers.

“I don’t want to give it all away though. Y’all will have to come check it out!”
