It’s feast or famine around here when it comes to live music. It’s been a pretty good feast for the last few weeks. Lewisburg’s Stroll Through the Arts this past Saturday night included some dynamite performances, including the debut performance by PA Crude, a five-piece blues band, the Folk Justice Band and the Williamsport Vocal jazz Quartet, plus others I didn’t get to hear.

This week, the Billtown Blues Society is sponsoring its annual Fall Into the Blues show on Sunday in the Genetti Hotel’s ballroom from 4-8 p.m. Four acts, including V.E. Paul, the Ann Kerstetter Band, Jack and Lilly and the Irving Street Blues Band. All four acts have won the Billtown Blues Challenge, and Sunday’s show is a fundraiser to help Jack and Lilly and Irving Street make the trip to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge competition in January, 2010. Tickets are $8 for Billtown Blues Association members and $10 for others.

Calling all string band enthusiasts. The Elk Creek Ale Works and Cafe in Millheim has a veritable plethora of string bands performing, including Strings on Thursday at 7:30, the Evil City String Band at 8 on Saturday, and on Sunday, the second annual Harry Smith Festival brings no less than eight string bands to town for a show starting at 2 p.m. Call 1-814-349-8850 for more info.

Tonight, Van Wagner will be at the Old Forge Brewing Co. on Mill Street in Danville from 7-9 p.m.

The King Street Coffeehouse at the Savoy, 221 Front Street, Northumberland, is open Friday night, with dinner at 6. Featured this week are Tommy Patten, Maria Wilson and the Aloha Orchestra, starting at 7 p.m. Cover is $6 for the music.

American Legion Victory Post 25 on South Market Street in Selinsgrove is hosting Black Mountain Jack from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Tickets are $7 per person, $10 per couple at the door.

And the singing mailman, Jim McClinsy, is back at McGuigan’s Public House on Market Street, Sunbury, from 6-8 p.m.

Put on your dancing shoes — or kick them off — for a sock hop at the UUCSV, 265 Point Township Drive (Route 11), Northumberland, from 4-7 p.m. Saturday. Live music by Kimbo Reichley, Steve Mitchell and Tim Breon. This is a kid-friendly event, especially if you want them to be embarrassed by watching you dance. Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family, with the proceeds going to fix the congregation’s piano.
