WILLIAMSPORT — A special concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 in the Community Arts Center, 220 West Fourth St., will benefit the Lycoming County United Way. “The Johnny Cash Experience” brings to life the music of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash through the talents of local musicians. Led by David Stone, the concert promises ‘an accurate, note-for-note, authentic representation” of “The Johnny Cash Show.”
Inspired by the late ‘60s television show, Stone learned to play the guitar and began singing Cash’s songs. Three years ago he gathered a group of fellow musicians who also shared the love of the Cash sound and “The Johnny Cash Experience” was born.
United Way Executive Director Scott Lowery heard Stone summer in performance at Eagles Mere, and asked the band to consider a benefit for the United Way. Recalling the feeling of community he knew from spending childhood summers in Eagles Mere, it was easy for Stone to say yes.
“We are going to do everything we can to put on a great performance that the folks will enjoy. A Friday evening of Johnny Cash music, with appreciative fans, raising money for a great cause; it will be a lot of fun,” said Stone.
Tickets for the concert are $20 and available by calling 326-2424 or visit www.caclive.com.
