CENTER VALLEY — Act 1, DeSales University Performing and Fine Arts will present “Merry Christmas, George Bailey” Dec. 3-14 on the Main Stage of the Labuda Center for the Performing Arts in Center Valley. Adapted by James Goode from the Lux Radio Broadcast of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and directed by DeSales professor of theater Steven Dennis, this clever take on a Christmas classic is set in a 1940s radio studio decked for the holidays where stage managers, technicians and actors gather to present a radio broadcast of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Selinsgrove native Jordan Gulick will perform in the roles of Pa Bailey, Mr. Gower, Sam Wainwright and Burt. In addition, Gulick also serves as assistant director for the production.
With sound effects, specialty acts, music, local commercials and audience participation, “Merry Christmas, George Bailey” is a highly theatrical spin on this perennial favorite.
