Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue at Weis Center May 17

LEWISBURG — Tickets are still available for a concert by New Orleans-based jazz fusion band Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue May 17 at 7 p.m. in the Weis Center for the Performing Arts as part of Bucknell University’s 163rd Commencement Weekend.

The band, which intertwines the sounds of New Orleans with jazz, brass band and funk, includes Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews, on trombone, trumpet and vocals; Mike Ballard on bass; Pete Murano, guitar; Joey Peebles, drums; Dan Oestreicher, baritone sax; Tim McFatter, tenor sax. For the third year in a row, the musicians were awarded Artist of the Year, Best R&B/Funk Artist, and Best Trombonist in Offbeat Magazine’s Best of the Beat Awards.
