Here’s a run-down of special music in the region today, March 17, otherwise known as St. Patrick’s Day:
Jim McClinsy will be at McGuigan’s Public House in Sunbury from noon-2 p.m., and in the evening, Mojo Risers will entertain at McGuigan’s from 9-11 p.m. Elsewhere, Greg Burgess and Beverly Conrad, appearing as the Lowlander Highlanders, are at BJ’s Steak & Ribs in Selinsgrove from 6-9 p.m., and Lux Bridge is at Puirseil’s Irish Pub on Sixth Street in Lewisburg from 1-4 p.m.
The Bucknell Brass is presenting a special free concert of Irish brass music at Rooke Chapel on the Bucknell University campus at 2:30 p.m., and the annual St. Patrick’s bash at Elk Creek Cafe and Ale Works in Millheim presents Doug McMinn and Friends at 3 p.m., followed by Celtica, joined by vocalist Abbi Parker and Bill Stetz on bass, at 5 p.m.
And here’s what else is up today. As usual, the Burgess-Mitchell-Seal Trio will host the jazz workshop at the Bullfrog Brewery in Williamsport from noon-4 p.m., although Greg will be elsewhere. I’m not sure who will sit in for him, but it will be interesting, I have no doubt.
Smooth Country is at the Shamokin Dam Fire Co. on the Old Trail from 3-6 p.m., and on the wine trail, Nate Myers and Tom Rosencrans will do a set of acoustic blues at Spyglass Ridge Winery in Sunbury from 2-5 p.m.
Please send information about gigs and venues to firstname.lastname@example.org by 5 p.m. on Monday for inclusion in this space. Photos are also welcome, by the way.
