Now Hear This: Friday, Jan. 25

Tonight there is a special event at the Sunbury Social Club on east Drive on Packer Island. The 4th annual Post World Series Party to benefit ALS research goes from 6-midnight, with music by Memory Lane from 9-midnight; $10 at the door includes ballpark foods such as hot dogs, burgers, nachos, etc.

The King Street Coffeehouse at 253 Front St., Northumberland is open, with musical performances by Gary Gyekis, Bill Eck and DePotorLand, starting at 7 p.m. Hot drinks and desserts are available all evening. A special tribute to Ed Rhoads, a very talented and wonderful musician who died last summer, including a number by his wife Kim, is also expected.

Other entertainment tonight includes Eric Rachau at McGuigan’s Public House at Third and Market in Sunbury from 6:30-8:30 p.m., and the Frank Wicher Band appears again at The Links at Buckhorn from 8-11 p.m. for dancing and enjoyment.

Making their first appearance at the newly-renovated Puirseil’s Irish Pub on Sixth Street in Lewisburg, Lux Bridge will set your toes a-tapping with lively Celtic tunes from 7-8, followed by an Irish jam session. Last but not least, Pages of Paul, fronted by the always-classy Karen Nogle, will heat up the night at the Scarlet D on Chestnut Street in Mifflinburg from 8-11.
