Now Hear This: Thursday, Dec. 19

— The weather outside is frightful but the local music scene is so delightful.

Yes, that’s a pretty cheesy line but it does describe life in our snow-covered Valley as Christmas Day gets so close I can already hear reindeer hoofs on my roof, or maybe it’s only a bad-tempered squirrel stuck in the attic.

Between all the shopping and figgy pudding making, take a break and check out some of these Yuletide treats.

Tonight, up in Williamsport, Jordan Young will fill the Bullfrog Brewery with his highly-polished sound for a free show from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Greg Burgess, one of the hardest-working musicians in the Valley, teams up with fiddle woman Bev Conrad for Celtic tunes and some old-time music from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bull Run Tap House, Sixth and Market streets, Lewisburg.

Does your band or venue have a New Year’s celebration planned? If so, let me know. Ditto for any area gigs, concerts or shows taking place throughout the week. Send info no later than 5 p.m. Monday to nowhearthispa@gmail.com
