Da Capo Chamber Players in Concert April 22

LEWISBURG — The New York-based Da Capo Chamber Players will present an eclectic concert of new music on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Rooke Recital Hall of the Weis Music Building at Bucknell University.

The concert will feature new and recent works by New York composers Judd Greenstein and Valerie Coleman, as well as Boston-based composer Shirish Korde. It will include scenes from Korde's new multi-media opera Phoolan Devi, based on the life of India's notorious "bandit queen."

This concert, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the Gallery Series, committed to world and experimental new music. It is funded in part by grants from the Kushell Music Endowment and Bucknell's Department of Music.

Hailed by the New York Times as "consistently agile and transparent," the Naumburg Award-winning Da Capo Chamber Players embodies an exciting legacy of musical directions. Open to a wide spectrum of styles of new music, the ensemble is especially dedicated to working with young composers.

Da Capo Chamber Players carries this mission into their two-day residency in Bucknell's Department of Music starting on Monday offering open rehearsals, a masterclass, class presentations, and student composition readings. All events during the residency are free and open to the public
