— SUNBURY — A free night of comedy with Dave Ross will be hosted by Mike’s No Mic Open Mic (MNMOM) and the Sunbury Eagles Tuesday at the club’s location at 33. S. Third St. Ross, the host of the “Terrified Podcast” on Chris Hardwick’s Nerdist Network, is currently on a 42-city stand up comedy tour, and will be stopping in the city Tuesday to join several local comedians in providing complimentary laughs to all who come out.
The Los Angeles comedian and storyteller has performed at numerous renowned festivals, including the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, the Laughing Skull Festival and the San Francisco Comedy and Burrito Festival. He has also been featured on “Tosh.0” with his sketch group WOMEN.
The organizers of the free event are excited to bring Ross’s “relatable and honest” comedic style to the local area.
“If you would’ve told me a year ago that I’d be hosting for one of my favorite comedians I would’ve thought you were crazy,” co-organizer Jeff Kunkel said.
Kunkel is a co-host of the “Popular Outcast Podcast” with Bill Russum and Mike Bennett. The three local men started the monthly MNMOM, which features stand up comedy, spoken word poetry, story tellers and musical acts.
This is their second free comedy night since they started the open mic in March 2012.
“We were originally going to charge a cover fee, but the Eagles generously offered to pay the performers so the show could be free,” Kunkel said.
In addition to Ross, the show will also feature MNMOM regular performers Bill Russum, of Winfield, Chris Rowe, of Sunbury, Andrew Smith, of Bridgewater, N.J., Nick Rehak, of Baltimore, Md.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 7 p.m.
