DANVILLE — Former Journey lead singer Kevin Chalfant will perform with Hybrid Ice during a concert Jan. 25 at Washies Fire Company.
Hybrid Ice, founded in Danville 43 years ago, will play Journey songs at the Railroad Street fire hall beginning at 9 p.m. Doors open at 7:30. Tickets are limited and available at Washies and Reichart’s Mardi Gras. They are $15 in advance and $18 at the door.
“We will be playing Journey hits and he will be singing them,” said long-time Hybrid Ice member Rick Klinger, of Danville. “We will be his band on Jan. 25,” he said. “We’re trying to bring some national singers into this area. We are calling the show Friends of the Ice.”
“We have quite a few singers we have access to and we have put quite a bit of work into this,” Klinger said.
Chalfant replaced Steve Perry after Perry left Journey. Chalfant was also lead singer with the band called The Storm.
He will be one of several singers featured with Hybrid Ice on a cruise Feb. 10-17. Klinger said the cruise is almost sold out. Bookings for the Royal Caribbean cruise are being handled by Nittany Travel of State College and Lock Haven. The cruise is called Legends of Rock Cruise 2.
“This is the first time I will be performing with Hybrid Ice. A bunch of my buddies worked with them in the past. I have performed in Pennsylvania quite a bit,” Chalfant said.
He plans to arrive in Danville a few days ahead of time so they can rehearse. “They’re really a great band,” he said.
Currently, Chalfant has his own band in Illinois. “The band also doubles as an all-star band. I bring in a lot of different singers — the same thing I am doing with the Hybrid Ice guys,”’ he said.
