WILLIAMSPORT — Seasoned musician, filmmaker and activist Johnny Azari is taking to the road for his second national tour, The Entropic Odyssey: Act II. His second solo record, “Road-Dog’s Teeth,” is set for release in late spring.
He will be playing Williamsport’s Bullfrog Brewery on March 3.
Azari plays his own strain of delta-blues crossed with alternative country. He blends a deeply traditional style of song writing with lyrics that take on modern times. His vocal delivery is gravelly and genuine; his finger picking raw and sweet.
Azari scored the film “Illusions & Mirrors” (2013), starring Natalie Portman and directed by Gold Lion Award-winning artist Shirin Neshat. Azari has shared the stage with The New York Dolls, Kiss, Nouvelle Vague, and Sussan Deyhim.
He also scored the feature film “Windows,” worked with Grammy Award-winning producer David Kahne, co-write a play for Performa, and created a handful of videos, two of which (“Occupation Blues” and “Freedom Glory Be Our Name”) enjoyed viral success.
