Oak Creek Band coming to Williamsport

— WILLIAMSPORT — Nashville’s The Oak Creek Band is touring the Northeast to promote the release of its debut full-length album “XI” and will perform at Bullfrog Brewery, 229 W. 4th St., on Jan. 12. The show begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free.

Sedona, Ariz., natives Jenna and Daniel Watters lead the Oak Creek Band. They met in middle school and knew each other through high school, but first actually sang together for their high school graduation from Sedona Red Rock High School in 2005. They soon began performing as a folk duo whenever they could, but not as often as they wanted, due to the distance between them as Daniel attended college in California and Jenna traveled abroad.

In 2009, they decided to take the plunge as a permanent musical partnership and moved to Denver, Colo. The Oak Creek Band was formed along with Denver musicians Steve Rogers and Mark Levy. Daniel and Jenna married in 2011.

In early 2013, the Watters and bass player Steve Rogers, moved to Nashville, Tenn., and began work on what would become their new CD, “XI” (Eleven). Eleven is the number that symbolizes justice and balance, and the number cannot be divided equally. It is a number that embodies the balance and relationship between the lead singers.  The album art features scales, the classic symbol of justice, with the sun and the moon, exemplifying the extremes and balance between them.

The touring band is made up of Daniel and Jenna, Rogers on bass, Andy Wilmoth on drums and Josh Maynard on percussions. Opening for Oak Creek will be Angelica Rockne, who grew up in Sedona as well.
