MILLHEIM — If you’ve never experienced a musical elk or heard a frog holler, you’re depriving your ears of some fantastic sounds that one must certainly experience.

And they can do just that this Saturday night when The Elk Creek Café in Millheim welcomes Frog Holler, a band that will be hooting and hollering up a storm with their “ribbiting” style of music.

“The band’s style is song based — lots of harmony singing, honest songs and playing,” said Darren Schlappich, singer, songwriter and acoustic guitarist for the band. “We work hard at what we do. We just try to be who we are and let our music define us.

“One band member even plays a one-of-a-kind electric banjo, so you don’t see that every day,” he added.

With six full-length albums under their belt, the band has a vast and varied song list of original tunes with a few covers songs thrown into the mix.

Added into the songs and spirits is the band’s ability to weave together a musical story in a true Americana style no matter what the venue or crowd.
