During the last two years, The Roys have shared the stage with bluegrass and country superstars including George Jones, Ricky Skaggs, Doyle Lawson, Lady Antebellum, Eric Church, John Rich, Rhonda Vincent, Lonesome River Band, Russell Moore & IIIrd Tyme Out, Janie Fricke, The Oak Ridge Boys, Darryl Worley and Chris Young.
The barbecue cook-off is the center of the Ribz 4 Kidz Charity. Participants have the opportunity to camp overnight with friends and family at Ards. A pancake and sausage breakfast is included to all team members on Aug. 24 before “we start turnin’ and burnin,’” said Midkiff. There will be trophies and prizes awarded.
There will be two age classes for the Kids Build a Burger Competition — 4-7 and 8-12 — which starts at 1 p.m. and is free for the first 30 kids in each bracket who sign up. Everyone who enters wins a participation prize and there will be one grand prize winner in each age bracket.
At 2 p.m. there will be a Rib-Eating Competition, starting with five pounds of ribs. Entry fee is $25.
To sign up for the contests or for more information, stop at Ards or contact Midkiff at (570) 898-4898, email firstname.lastname@example.org or go to www.ribz4kidz.com.
