And the winners are:

Scholastic Arts Exhibit opens Tuesday

LEWISBURG — Central Columbia High School senior Madeline Padner picked up this year’s Best in Show award at Packwood House Museum’s 36th annual Scholastic Arts Exhibit. The winning entry, an untitled portrait, was entered in the Pencil, Pen and Ink Drawing category.  

The exhibit opens Tuesday, April 22, and is on display through May 3 as part of the Lewisburg Arts Festival. The exhibit features 122 two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces by 109 student artists from 16 high schools from around the Central Pennsylvania region.  

Judges awarded placement ribbons in 10 different categories in addition to the Best in Show ribbon. The exhibit was judged by Barbara Baker, an artist and instructor from Lewisburg; Betsy Maguire, a retired art teacher also from Lewisburg; and Brittiny Seedor, a recent art history graduate from Bloomsburg University who works in stained glass.

The winners are:

Category 1 (Painting)

First — “Ancient Mariner,” by Sara Turner, Grade 12, Danville High School

Second – “Self Portrait,” by Kayla Pfirman, Grade 12, South Williamsport High School

Third – “That Summer,” by Jenna Aumiller, Grade 12, Midd-West High School

Honorable Mention – “Wish You Were Here,” by Carlie Shaner, Grade 11, Hughesville High School

Honorable Mention – “Wiry Web,” by Capria Fish, Grade 12, Central Columbia High School

Category 2a (Drawing: Pencil, Pen and Ink)

First – “Noise,” by Leah Marquette, Grade 12, SUN Area Technical Institute

Second – “Hendrix,” by Christy Schultz, Grade 12, Line Mountain High School

Third – “Bridge,” by Ryder Winans, Grade 11, Lewisburg Area High School

Honorable Mention – “Material Beauty,” by Jessica Eyster, Grade 11, Selinsgrove Area High School

Honorable Mention – “Elijah,” by Emily Kepner, Grade 12, Hughesville High School
