WEST MILTON — The Otzinachson Group of the Sierra Club will present the second “Songs from the Sacrifice Zone Concert” from 4-6:30 p.m. May 18 at Central Oak Heights, West Milton.
The event focuses on how wonderful this area is, how vulnerable it is to exploitative resource extraction (fracking) and to help further the cause of increasing understanding and knowledge and have fun at the same time.
The concert will include local musicians such as DePotorland, Doug McMinn, Earl Pickins, Leah Schade and featured artists Hannah Bingman. Bingman has four albums and has gained opening slots for notable acts such as Kaki King, Michael Glabicki (of Rusted Root), Jeffrey Gaines and Christine Lavin. She was awarded the top prize in the 2006 Susquehanna Folk Music Society Songwriting Contest and name a regional round finalist in the Mountain Stage New Song contest in 2011. In late 2013, she released the agricultural-themed album “Loam.” Learn more about Bingman at hannahbingman.com.
