— On a recent Monday evening, I went to Lewisburg to take in a bit of Steve Mitchell’s Monday Musical Mashup at the Bull Run Tap House. Wow, what an evening! New York-based Lewisburg native Rolf Sturm sat in on guitar for Tim Breon. He was joined by Mitchell on drums and regular bassist Chalie Holmes.
In the course of the evening, Sturm’s jazz guitar repertoire stretched Holmes and Mitchell’s musical abilities, and he was stretched by such area artists as Chris Trasatti, Frank Wicher, Joanne Henry and Richard Grace, all of whom put Sturm through his paces on country, blues, folk and jazz standards.
All in all, everyone had a great time, and the audience loved every minute of it. This low-key Monday program is one of the best-kept secrets in the region, and if you haven’t tried it, you need to do so. It runs from 6:30-9:30 every Monday.
