The Community Theatre League will hold open auditions on Sept. 29 and 30 for the musical “She Loves Me” and is bringing in guest director Donald Birely to direct the production.
Auditions are at 7 p.m. on Sunday and Monday and the show will run the first two weekends of December.
For more information on auditioning and full character descriptions, visit ctlshows.com or call (570) 327-1777.
Birely is looking for adults age 18-60 to perform this in this musical based on the same story as the film’s “You’ve Got Mail!” and “The Shop Around the Corner.”
George and Amalia are two feuding clerks in a European perfumery during the 1930s who secretly find solace in their anonymous romantic pen pals, little knowing their respective correspondents are each other. Their co-workers and customers provide laughs and more-than-enough advice in this family musical.
The cast is diverse in age, but all must be able to sing. Those auditioning should prepare a song and bring sheet music for the accompanist. Anyone interested in helping with the production in any other way should attend the auditions as well.
Area vocalists will get a unique opportunity to work with a professional director. Birely is a director at the Westchester Broadway Theatre, a regional Equity theatre, and has been the artistic director for musicals at Richter in Danbury, Conn. He has his own production company that provides entertainers for various New York City events and has guest directed in theaters across the country.
Long-time CTL director Martena Rogers will serve as music director and accompanist for the show.
