— The talents and hard work of the students of the Susquehanna Youth Chorale, the Susquehanna Children’s Chorale, and the Susquehanna Young Women’s Chorale will be showcased when the national award-winning Susquehanna Chorale presents a part of its Educational Outreach Program through the Annual Scholarship Benefit Concert. The event will be held on Sunday, Oct., 20, at 7p.m. at Central Dauphin East High School.
The Susquehanna Children’s Chorale is under the direction of Judith Shepler, the Susquehanna Youth Chorale is directed by George H. Diehl, and the Susquehanna Young Women’s Chorale is led by Elizabeth Lins-Shoenfelt. The concert and parking are free, though an optional donation is appreciated for the maintenance of the scholarship fund. Families that qualify can apply for help through the scholarship fund to offset the costs associated with being a member of these groups.
The Susquehanna Chorale’s Educational Outreach Program is geared toward young singers from elementary school through high school in Central Pennsylvania. Stephanie Gaffey, Susquehanna Chorale board member and director of the SC’s Educational Outreach Program, enthusiastically commented that “Several former students of these groups have gone on to professional music careers, and some also sing with the founding choral group, The Susquehanna Chorale, under the direction of Linda Tedford.”
The youth programs of the Susquehanna Chorale provide a unique opportunity for students to train alongside other dedicated young musicians and develop their skills with talented professionals.
