Five-person exhibition opens tonight at Converge Gallery

— WILLAMSPORT — “Outside In,” a five-person exhibition at Converge Gallery, propels the viewer into different synthetic manifestations of the self. These self-projections fluctuate from literal depictions of the artist to expressions that poetically dissolve and disappear into spaces, surfaces, environments and even textures.

The exhibition opens on Friday, Nov. 1, from 6-9 p.m. and closes Dec. 21. A gallery talk is also scheduled during the opening. The gallery is located at 140 W. Fourth St.

This exhibition is designed to lure the viewer to search beyond the exterior of each piece of art to engage the human being inside of the creation.

“Outside In” is being guest curated by artist and Lycoming College professor Seth Goodman. Goodman hand-selected works from five regional artists — Anthony Cervino, Michael Darough, visiting assistant professor at Lycoming College; narrative painter Greg McLemore; Lawrence Charles Miller, of Williamsport, who worked as a medical artist, an editorial illustrator for the Washington Post, Philadelphia Inquirer and New York Times; and photographer Kimberly Witham, whose work is strongly influenced by natural history dioramas, cabinets of curiosity, still life painting and other visual manifestations of man’s attempt to categorize, comprehend and ultimately control the natural world.
