WASHINGTONVILLE -- Byron "Brian Barney" Shetler, 65, of Pear Alley, Washingtonville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at his home.

He was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Anthony Township, Montour County, a son of the later Frank and Helen (Smith) Shetler.

Byron retired in 2008 after 40 years of service from Con-Agra, Milton.

He was a member of the 40 & 8 Highland Lake, a social member of the Washingtonville Fire Company, the Muffley-Huff Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8206, Turbotville, the American Legion Post, Millville and Loyal Order of the Moose, Milton.

Byron enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Frank and Amy Shetler, of Picture Rocks, and Jeff Shetler, of Limestoneville; one daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Donald Walters Jr., of Turbotville; seven grandchildren; three brothers, William Shetler, of Danville, Lawrence Shetler, of Washingtonville, and Dio Maine Shetler, of Turbotville; and three sisters, Anna Bitler, of Muncy, Doris Earl, of Utah, and Beverly Tanner, of Turbotville.

He was preceded in death by one son, Brian Shetler, one brother, David Shetler, and one sister, Laura Burgett.

Friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, where the memorial service will be conducted at 1, with Pastor Lucy Temple of the Moreland Baptist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Katys Church Cemetery, Columbia County.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Washingtonville Fire Company, Washingtonville, PA 17884.
