John Douglas Notargiacomo, of Newburyport, Mass., passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer.
John was born in Newburyport, on February 25, 1957, to the late Natalie (Duffy) Notargiacomo, formerly of Newburyport, and George Notargiacomo of Florida.
John was a 1975 graduate of NHS. He went on to receive his bachelor's degree at Merrimack College. He also received a master's degree from Rollin's University in Florida. He was most recently employed as a lead project manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance, Dover, N,H
John was an accomplished athlete at Newburyport High School and Merrimack College. In 2012, he was inducted into the Newburyport Wall of Fame. John was an avid supporter of Newburyport baseball, as a coach and board member of the Newburyport Pioneer League.
The most important thing in John’s life was his children, Jared, Nick and Rachel. John started every day with a positive attitude and a desire to be the best father he could be. He never missed a teachable moment with his family. He built his life with integrity and honesty and love. His strength and courage was an inspiration to all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife and best friend, Margaret Welch; his three children Jared, Nichlas and Rachel Notargiacomo, and three stepchildren, Robert, James and Molly Sullivan, all of Newburyport. In addition, John is survived by his father, George and his wife, Gerri, of Flagler, Fla.; his three brothers, Richard Notargiacomo and his wife, Lamarre, of Vero Beach, Fla., Donald Notargiacomo of Newburyport, and Kenneth Notargiacomo of Seabrook; his sister, Jean and her husband, Bruce Pingree of Seabrook; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Friday, January 31, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 42 Green Street, Newburyport, Mass. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1, at 9 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Parish, Newburyport. Burial will be private.
