How can I possibly tell you how special my Mom is? If you know her, no explanation is necessary. She is a kind-loving soul who has done so much for so many. It amazes me the number of people she has touched in her lifetime. It would be interesting to see how many of your reading this article know, have met or have sampled my Mom’s kindness and have witnessed her strength, care and love. It would be the best gift to all of us if you dropped a note to let her know she touched your life in some way or that you thought of her this Mother’s Day.
She is my rock, my port in the storm. Whenever life is hard, she inspires me and gets me through. She is living proof that I can do whatever I put my mind to and that I can survive whatever hardship comes my way with the grace, dignity and the strength she has shown me by her example. Just knowing she is there gives me great peace.
Through the loss of my grandparents, my little sister Cathy, my wonderful dad Charles, my niece Paula and great hardships with each of us losing our way from time to time, Mom has always held the family together and led us back to the place we love, where we can get grounded again in the faith and values she has instilled in us. It is the place where we are safe. It is the place we lovingly call Tara. It is the safe harbor she has created for all of us. It is the place we call home and Mom is our beacon.
Another daughter, Bonnie Trump, wrote their mother is “one of the most sincere and most comforting people you could ever know” and “always with a smile on her face, a helping hand or kind word and a song in her heart.”
