WASHINGTONVILLE -- A 19-year-old Turbotville man died Monday, almost a week after he was injured when the pickup truck he was riding in crashed head-on into a farm tractor.
Patrick T. Eiswerth, 19, was pronounced dead at 10:17 a.m. Monday, according to Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn. The driver of the truck, Wade Biddle, 23, also of Turbotville, was killed instantly in the Nov. 11 accident.
Eiswerth had been listed in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Lynn said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
Toxicology tests on Biddle are pending, Lynn said.
The accident occurred at 12:52 p.m. Nov. 11 in Limestone Township, Montour County, when Biddle's pickup truck drifted into the path of an oncoming farm tractor along Ottawa Road near County Line Road, state police at Milton said.
The bucket at the front of the tractor smashed through the cab of the pickup truck, police said.
The driver of the tractor, Andrew J.S. Byler, 36, Turbotville, who was hauling large bales of hay, was not injured.
Police said the tractor bucket was in the proper position to be traveling on a road. The tractor was headed to a nearby farm.
