Published May 13, 2008 08:30 am - Six Columbia-Montour Lacrosse Club players were named to the Central Susquehanna-Nittany Lacrosse League all-star team, including a pair of first-team honorees.


Lacrosse duo earn top honors

DANVILLE -- Six Columbia-Montour Lacrosse Club players were named to the Central Susquehanna-Nittany Lacrosse League all-star team, including a pair of first-team honorees.

CMLC -- based out of Danville -- had two first-team picks, one second-team selection and three players picked up honorable mentions. CSNLL frontrunner Lewisburg led the way with five first-team picks while State College, Selinsgrove and CMLC all had two top picks.

Brian Bastian and Darius Gorman earned first-team honors for CMLC. Bastian is joined on the midfield line by Carleton Knisley of Lewisburg and Selinsgrove's Thad Bowersox.

Gorman is a first-team defender, joining Lewisburg's Henry Geise and State College's Nick Michael.

John Derr is the only CMLC attack to earn honors. He is a second-team pick.

Three CMLC players earned honorable mention status, including midfielder Ken Weaver, defender Jhett Rothermel and goalie Tyler White.

The CSNLL has five teams in it, including CMLC, the Central Susquehanna Lacrosse Club (Mifflinburg and Warrior Run), Lewisburg, State College and Selinsgrove.

CMLC hosts Lewisburg on Wednesday night. The game starts at 6 p.m. at the Hess Field.
