White Deer Elementary students complete service project

MILTON - The first grade classes at White Deer Elementary joined together to complete a service project which combined celebrations of the the 100th Day of School and Valentine’s Day.

The two classes adopted Sgt. Troy Heimbach -daughter and niece are both first graders at White Deer- and his fellow soldiers, who are stationed at Camp Buehring, located in Kuwait.

To spread the love and cheer, they collected 100 items to send in a care package to the soldiers. For one week, the first graders collected such items as individually wrapped snacks, baby wipes, hair/body wash, candy, tide pods for washing, travel size personal hygiene items, toothbrushes and toothpaste.

The first graders exceeded their goal of 100 items, with 297items to be shipped to Heimbach and his fellow soldiers.
