Three brothers die in blaze

RUSH TWP. – Three brothers were reported to have been killed in a fire that started about 1:20 this morning in their home at 60 S. Smith Road and off Patton Road in Rush Township.

Northumberland County coroner James Kelley confirmed this morning that 13-year old Daniel Gage Dissinger, 7-year old Gavin Arthur Dissinger and 2-year old Arthur Willis Dissinger all died due to "thermal injuries." and the manner of death was "accidental." Kelley was assisted at the scene by Chief Deputy Coroner James R. Gotob.

Six children lived in the home that was destroyed. According to sources on scene, five children where home when the fire broke out, with two escaping the fire. Another child was staying with friends. The mother of the children was reportedly at work when the fire broke out.

Only the foundation and part of what appeared to be a chimney remain after the blaze.

Fire companies from around the Valley responded, including those from Danville, Riverside, Elysburg, Stonington, Upper Augusta and Overlook.
