6 great things to do today!

A little wine, a little music, and a little more wine is the blueprint for Johanna and Anthony at the Shade Mountain Winery, 16140 Route 104, Middleburg. This event is part of the weekend Wine Trail. For those without wine trail tickets, there will be a $5 cover charge to partake in the food and live entertainment.

Visit for more info.

The ever-so-talented Brandon Barnhart will make some noise at the Hummel’s Wharf Fire Company. The fun starts at 9 p.m.

Back at The Route 61 Roadhouse in Sunbury, the Rocky Allen Band from up north will bring some country and some classic rock to town. Although the band is fairly young, its members create a show that is professional and highly entertaining.

Admission is free and typically runs from  9 p.m. to midnight.

Over in Mifflinburg, The Scarlet D will welcome many area musicians and friends of Bill Wagner, former mayor of Beavertown, who passed away last December.

The free event is not one of sorrow and sadness. Instead it’s a celebration of a man’s commitment to his community, his friends and all he valued, including music.

“Bill was an amazing person who was involved with the local music scene that did so much to support music in the area,” said fellow musician Karen Nogel. “We wanted to celebrate Bill’s life and all that he did for the community.”

The event for Bill, who served as emcee for the Pickin’ Parlor Nights, will run from 6-10 p.m.

“The usual crew of ‘pickers’ will be there. Rick Buck, Yogi Glass and Will Hess along with our host for the evening, all the way from Ohio, Gary Swartz,” Nogel said.

The Frank Wicher Band will be in Danville to make a little country music at a new venue, Reichart’s Mardi Gras, 1416 Montour Boulevard.

Enjoy some Cajun specialties while enjoying country tunes in a relaxed setting.

In Williamsport, the Bullfrog Brewery welcomes two area talents — Sean Farley and Adam Tarin — for a gig filled with someblues, a bit of rock and some Americana.

No tickets required for this 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. performance.

Does your band or venue have a gig coming up next week? If so, e-mail by 5 p.m. Monday
