Driver slams into Mahoning Township home

DANVILLE — Two front porches were wrecked after a car went over a curb and smashed into a home at 706 Bloom Road.

Michael Mills, of Mahoning Township, ran a red light at Railroad Street and Bloom Road and clipped another vehicle before going over the curb, according to Sgt. Timothy Berkey, of the Mahoning Township Police Department. Mills had been traveling east.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 1:20 p.m.

Mills’ car also damaged the front railing and steps of the porch on 704 Bloom Road.

Heather Engdahl, of 702 Bloom Road, was home during the crash and said she heard the accident but didn’t witness it.

Engdahl said traffic is usually bad at the intersection, in part because of the traffic signal.

“It’s the light. The light is awful,” she said, saying that it changes from red to green too quickly. “It’s a terrible light.”

The evening before the accident, Engdahl said she had heard a fender bender outside her house.

No one appeared to be hurt in the accident. Engdahl said her husband works with local ambulance crews and did not receive any calls for emergency treatment.
